The thyroid is an endocrine gland that makes thyroid hormone, which regulates various body functions. Thyroid diseases include hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The parathyroid glands are four glands located behind the thyroid. They make parathyroid hormone, with regulates calcium levels in the blood and bone. Disorders include hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism.
